A detailed description of Dr. Morgan's talk:
The issues generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, including discussions around vaccine hesitancy in some Black Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities has highlighted fundamental failings in our society. These persistent structural problems are responsible for the lack of home grown scientist, doctors and public health professional from these communities. There are strong arguments that this situation has directly lead to the many extra deaths from these communities during the pandemic. The presentation will discuss how people described as BAME face barriers particularly in STEM subjects at every stage in their career journey and what can be done to change outcomes.
